Downtown Shopping & Dining Districts

Reno Riverwalk District

Reno was established right next to the first bridge to cross the Truckee River in the late 1800s. By the mid-1900s, Reno had become famous for gaming & nightlife, and the river that ran through it took a back seat to the glitz and glamour of downtown. In the 1990s, the city created The Raymond I. Smith Truckee River Walk, which brought new attention to Reno’s scenic river corridor. Today, local merchants are proud to welcome you back to The Riverwalk District to celebrate the beautiful place where Reno began. Boasting award-winning restaurants (Campo was honored in Esquire Magazine!) and high-end art and retail stores, residents and tourists alike walk the Truckee River, shop, eat, drink, enjoy and live in Reno’s Riverwalk District.

Cal Ave

Nicknamed, ‘Cal Ave’, California Avenue and its surrounding area is just south of Reno’s downtown business district. Cal Ave is home to an array of locally owned retail outfits, and provides some of the most unique shopping in Reno. Also home to restaurants like The Blue Plate (Greek and Asian fusion!) and bars like St. James Infirmary, Cal Ave is a popular hang out for business during the day, and the local community at night.

MidTown District

MidTown is the heart of the city and is quickly becoming the pulse.  A growing district of funky coffee shops, restaurants, bars and distinctive, locally-owned retail shops, MidTown was created by a handful of local business owners and property owners doing business in the area. MidTown features monthly “Art Walks” and is fast becoming known for its gourmet food anchors and focus on craft beers and fine cocktails. Hipsters and families rejoice as MidTown has something for everyone.

Downtown Sparks – Victorian Avenue

A project of the Sparks Redevelopment Agency, Victorian Square is “downtown” Sparks. A beautiful tree lined street becomes the best special events plaza in Northern Nevada. Watch the latest blockbuster movie at the 14 screen theater and then dine in at many great restaurants lining Victorian Avenue.
