EDAWN's Business Expansion and Retention Program
Developing businesses and creating jobs are critical to the health and vitality of any community. And, in an era when most new jobs come from existing businesses, a welcoming business environment is crucial.
That's what EDAWN’s Business Builders program is all about - promoting job growth and economic prosperity in northern Nevada by helping identify both opportunities for expansion as well as the barriers facing local businesses.
What is Business Builders?
Business Builders is EDAWN’s community-based, volunteer-driven economic development tool to encourage the growth and stability of local business.
Here’s how Business Builders works: A certified EDAWN Business Builder will call to make an appointment with existing companies to conduct a confidential interview concerning the many successes and challenges their company encounters while conducting business in Northern Nevada.
The information is then compiled into an aggregate report. By evaluating and addressing the needs and concerns of businesses within our region, we can continue to experience a healthy economy.
The information collected will be kept confidential. A report will be issued at the end of each phase with the results of each industry target. Participating companies will be notified via email when this report is released.
Short-Term Objectives
- Demonstrate and provide community support for local business.
- Solve immediate individual business concerns.
- Improve communication between the community and local businesses.
Long-Term Objectives
- Increase the competitiveness of local businesses.
- Assist business development to create and retain jobs.
- Establish and implement a strategic action plan for local economic development.
- Businesses that stay competitive are more likely to remain-and expand-in the community.
