Annual Economic Update.

Thanks to all of you that joined us for the annual economic update last month.  More than 650 attendees saw what happened over the last year, what we are projecting over the next year and the challenges we face as a community as we grow toward becoming a great city and region.  Here is a link to the slides used in the presentation. slide presentation.

More great media:

With injection of tech and culture, the biggest little city is growing up” The Sacramento Bee Jan. 10, 2017. “Hunched on the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada, Reno has long suffered a reputation as a poor man’s Las Vegas with snow….All that is changing, however, as Reno rides a wave of tech and craft brew spilling from the west….Reno came back with all kinds of food, music and culture for locals and visitors alike…A visit to downtown Reno shows off this new vitality.” Article Here.

The EPIC Report with Actual Numbers updated through December.

Now over 2 years into the 5 year EPIC report projections of over 52,400 new jobs, we are still on track even before Tesla, Panasonic and Switch ramp up their hiring efforts. Here are Actual Numbers Graphs.

In case you missed it:

“Is it Time for EDAWN to Throttle Back on Growth?” was the last EDAWN RGJ article. Our collective economic development efforts have put the region on a path to remarkable economic prosperity.  However, with that prosperity comes very real challenges that we must address to mitigate the impacts of this growth.  Given our success and expected rate of growth for years to come, should EDAWN be doing things differently, throttling back on our attraction efforts to mitigate the impacts of growth?  Here is the article.

Prior EDAWN articles, published in the RGJ, are stored on our website.

Help!!  Taxi-Tops are still available!

Please consider adding taxi-top advertising to your marketing plan now and in the years ahead.  We recently had 30 taxi-tops open up and if we cannot keep the taxi-tops filled with family friendly messages they will revert to those that are less reflective of the “new” Reno-Sparks. Just $1,000 for the entire year!  Contact Tamera Pitts at 775.829.3700 or email pitts@edawn.org.
